CASME Programmes Overview

Maths and Science Teacher Professional Development

CASME’s Maths and Science Teacher Professional Development initiatives are designed to enhance teachers’ subject content knowledge, instructional strategies, and integration of technology in classrooms. Through workshops, in-school visits, and professional learning communities (PLCs), educators receive ongoing support to tackle challenges in delivering Mathematics and Science education effectively. CASME empowers teachers to create dynamic, engaging, and learner-centered environments, ensuring improved curriculum coverage and learner outcomes in STEM subjects across South Africa’s rural and urban schools.

Science2Go

The Science2Go mobile resource program addresses the lack of functional science laboratories in schools by providing practical, hands-on science education experiences. Equipped mobile labs and facilitators visit schools, offering learners and teachers the opportunity to perform experiments aligned with the curriculum. The program not only improves learner enthusiasm and understanding of science concepts but also enhances teacher competency through workshops and ongoing mentorship. Science2Go extends CASME’s reach, providing critical exposure to real-world science and 4IR-driven education.

Coding and Robotics

CASME integrates Coding and Robotics programs into its education interventions to prepare learners and educators for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). Coding clubs and workshops introduce computational thinking, problem-solving, and creativity, helping learners develop digital literacy and future-ready skills. Teachers are equipped with resources and strategies to deliver coding and robotics education both online and offline, ensuring inclusivity and sustainability. By igniting curiosity in technology, CASME inspires learners to pursue careers in STEM fields.

Research and Evaluation

Research and evaluation form a cornerstone of CASME’s programs, ensuring continuous improvement and measurable impact. By analyzing data, assessing learner performance, and evaluating teacher development initiatives, CASME ensures its projects align with curriculum requirements and community needs. These insights drive evidence-based strategies that foster effective STEM teaching and learning. In addition to project-level evaluations, CASME conducts large-scale national research studies for funders, offering valuable data and insights to inform policy and program design. CASME collaborates with partners and funders to document outcomes, providing accountability while promoting innovation in STEM education practices.
